An active youth who enjoyed most sports, playing for my high school basketball team, cycling everywhere. Admittedly partying hard for my early 20’s, exercise became my profession, when I stepped away from a career in finance, becoming a bicycle messenger in Dublin for over 9 years.

8+ hours on a fixed gear bike, in all weathers developed grit, finding a self respect amidst the traffic and a lust for physical exertion. Competing in many ‘underground’ alleycat races on the streets during this period, culminating in a 2nd place for the street race at the Messenger World Championships held in Dublin 2007. Also completed 2 24 Hour races around Holland organised by it’s messengers.

moving on to set up a streetwear company left a huge vacancy in my activity. continuing to ride bikes, i started training at home with dumbbells and bodyweight, learning what I could online, to progress my technique until deciding to attain further knowledge.

I carried my own ashes to the mountains,

I invented a brighter flame for myself.”

enrolling with Fitcert, I very quickly felt I’d found my calling, completing

ITEC Fitness Instruction Level 2 and

ITEC Personal Trainer Level 3 with distinction.

Adding to this

ITEC Strength & Conditioning and

ITEC Kettlebell courses.

Working part time as a bicycle mechanic, I pursued aligning my passion for fitness with my career path, by teaming up with a past colleague from the road, who’d chosen a similar path.

becoming an assistant coach at 5 Point Fitness for just under a year, coaching small group training circuit classes and taking a number of clients for a strength & conditioning class and personal training.
